Hollywood has lost another legendary actor, "Our Gang" cast member and movie star Jackie Cooper has died at the age of 88, from complications of old age while in a  at a convalescent home in Santa Monica the OMG website  revealed.

Cooper who is best remember as a cast member of the iconic TV show "Our Gang" was reported to have had a long lifetime of struggles. The Oscar- nominated star has a long list of accomplishments , including,Tv executive and director to add to the list of many acting roles through out his career Gossip Cop confirmed.
A Cincinnati local tweeted "R.I.P. P.Jackie Cooper, who passed away today at 88 yrs old. I loved watching him as a kid in "Our Gang." I never realized what   a troubled child star he was."
Cooper was also well known for his his sad and tragic childhood, and the more than 100 movies and TV roles that he entertained fans with for several decades before retiring from the acting business.
Jackie credited the love of his third wife for keeping the legend on the right life path. Jackie Cooper was also a very busy man when off camera, he served in the U.S. Navy during WW II, retiring as a captain in the 1980's. He went on to race cars and thoroughbred horses for several years.
One of Coopers most noted movie performances was as editor Perry White in 1978 as the "Daily Planet" newspaper editor in  the  of the hit "Superman"  three films.Born in LA California as John Cooper, JR, he was only a young teenaged boy when his mother died and his father abandoned the family leaving Jackie to be raised by  a grandmother whom he despised.
Coopers' grandmother pushed the young boy to stay in show business and for a big scene in the movie "Skippy" he had a scene that required Cooper to cry on cue, having a little problem expressing that particular emotion on the movie set, his grandmother order that Cooper's pet dog be shot by a security guard to assure that Jackie nailed the sad scene perfectly, he was scarred by this event, but it was later revealed that his dog was not killed.  He later went on to write his memoir book in 1981 entitled "Please Don't Shoot My Dog," based on that traumatic childhood event.

Cooper is also  well known for carrying on a torrid love affair when he was 18, with the  twice his age star  Joan Crawford.
Cooper was married three time in his life, his third wife of 50 years Barbara Kraus preceded him in death in 2009. He is survived by one of his three children with Kraus and a son Jackie Cooper JR from his first marriage.
Jackie Cooper was 88.
